The Owen Fisher Bill was signed into law by Gov. Snyder making it a life sentence for fleeing and eluding resulting in death. Present for the signing was Bro. Joel Florida, Sen. John Gleason (Bill sponsor), Fisher's family (father, sister and mother), MI FOP Exec. Dir. John Buczek, and FOP 126 Pres. Paul Clolinger. The law takes effect Jan. 1, 2013. Flint Officer Owen Fisher was killed in the line of duty during a police chase in Flint in 2005.
